No reopening of schools and PU colleges till December end: Suresh Kumar

Bengaluru: Education Minister S Suresh Kumar has said that discussions are being held on the reopening of schools and PU colleges in the State, however, no primary and secondary schools and PU colleges will be reopened till the end of December.

Speaking at a news conference after a meeting with Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, officials of the Education Department and Health Department, he said that they have no plans to reopen schools till class 8 until the end of December.

“We placing more emphasis on reopening of PU colleges and high school. A variety of learning options are already being made available for students till class 8. We could reach for a decision on the issue (reopening) in December,” Kumar added.

“Last year we passed students in classes from 1 to 9 without conducting examinations. We are discussing whether to do the same this year too,” he said.
