Dharwad: The judicial custody of former minister Vinay Kulkarni, accused of murdering Zilla panchayat member Yogesh Gowda, has been extended for 14 days.
As Kulkarni’s earlier judicial custody came to an end on Monday, November 23, he was presented, through video conference, before the city’s 3rd Additional Court and the Special CBI Court.
A team of CBI officials appealed to the court to extend the judicial custody period of Kulkarni as the case is still under investigation. The court granted the extension till December 7.
Related to the case, Suburban Police Station Inspector Chennakeshava Tingarikar’s anticipatory bail hearing was postponed to November 30 by the Dharwad bench of the Karnataka High Court.
Tingarikar was the investigating officer in the Yogesh Gowda murder case. He is facing charges of corruption and destruction of evidence in the case.
Tingarikar, fearing arrest by the CBI, had sought anticipatory bail from the High Court. A team of CBI officials filed an objection to the anticipatory bail application.
Tingarikar was earlier granted bail by the 3rd Additional Court and the Special CBI Court here.
