Mangalore varsity to conduct special exams from Dec 21

Mangaluru: Mangalore University will hold special examinations from December 21 for students who failed to appear in the university’s examinations held in September and October said Dr PL Dharma, Registrar (Evaluation) of the university said at a news conference.

Udupi’s MGM College, Madikeri’s FMKMC College and the university will be the examination centres. More than 5,000 students, including six students from Sri Lanka, will be taking the examination, he said.

The university successfully conducted examinations for students of 205 colleges out of 210 colleges affiliated to it amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Examination centres were also set up in universities at Fiji, Lakshadweep, Manipur, Dharwad and Jammu and Kashmir. Results of several courses have already been declared and the pending results of other courses will be declared soon, he added.

The university will provide a helpdesk to resolve any confusion in the results. Injustice will not be done to any student, he added.

From the next academic year, the university team will handle all the procedures related to the examination and results declaration of the university. It has been decided not to continue with the outsourcing of theses process to an external agency, he said.

He added that notice has been sent to the company which acquired the contract for the processing and declaration of the results to explain the confusion in the results of some students. The company has acknowledged that there was a software flaw which caused the confusion and made some results inaccessible.

Distance Education Center Director Professor Sanghappa, Special Officer Dr Ramesh, Technical Committee Member Dr Ravi was present during the news conference.
