Bantwal: Deputy tahsildar caught red-handed taking bribe

Bantwal: The deputy tahsildar of Bantwal taluk office was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a person for making corrections in the land records.
The accused, identified as Ravishankar had demanded money to move a file, seeking to correct a wrong survey number mentioned in the land records of Veronica Rodrigues, from Pajeeru.
An application to correct the survey number mentioned in the records of the land at Benjanapadavu village had been forwarded to the deputy tahsildar for approval in June 2018. The complainant claimed that met the deputy tahsildar several times requesting him to move the file. Later the tahsildar demanded the bribe for signing the approval letter.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB officials led by DySP K C Prakash, and guidance of Dakshina Kannada ACB superintendent of police S C Bopaiah laid a trap for the accused and caught him while taking the bribe.
