Belgaum: Congress workers resign en masse and join BJP

Belgaum: A large number of Congress members from the district here, including Zilla panchayat member from Sambra and Satish Jarkiholi supporter Krishna Anigolkar, resigned from the OCngress and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Anigolkar also resigned from his Zilla panchayat membership.

Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, November 29 he said that several Congress leaders and workers from the rural area of the district collectively decided to leave the Congress and join the BJP. This move of ours has the blessings of district in-charge minister Ramesh Jarkiholi.

Anigolkar added that he would campaign for the BJP candidate in the upcoming Belgaum Lok Sabha by-election.

The by-election, schedule for which has not yet been released, was necessitated by the demise of Union Minister Suresh Angadi.
