Largest recruitment drive! Indian Railways to fill up 1.4 lakh vacancies

Bengaluru: The largest recruitment drive of the country is going to start this month as Indian Railways will be conducting Computer Based Tests (CBT) for 1,40,640 notified vacancies from December 15.

“Indian Railways had notified 3 types of vacancies in the employment notice issued in February, 2019. Though the written exam was delayed due to CORONA, it’s going to commence from December 15. Breakup of vacancies that would be filled up with this recruitment is 35,208 for NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Categories like guards, office clerks, commercial clerks etc.), 1663 for Isolated & Ministerial categories (Steno & Teachers etc.) and 1,03,769 for Level 1 vacancies (track maintainers, pointsman etc.). In all RRBs had notified a total of 1.40 lakh such vacancies for NTPC categories, Level-1 Posts and isolated and miscellaneous categories. The Computer Based Test (CBT) for above vacancies had to be deferred due to Covid-19 pandemic and resultant lockdown which was imposed throughout country,” the release said.

Railway now proposes to commence 1st stage o­nline computer based tests from December 15 and necessary arrangements have been initiated for this mega exam.

“Candidates who have applied for the job in Railways should note that the recruitment process is fully computerized and the selection is based purely o­n the merit of the candidates. Railway warns the candidates to be cautious about touts and job racketeers trying to deceive by making false promises of getting job in railways either through influence, money or by any other unfair means. Candidates found indulging in unfair means will be disqualified and shall be liable to legal action against them. Candidates to note that o­nly merit can fetch them a railway job,” the relesed added.
