Bengaluru violence case: CCB arrests former corporator Zakir

Bengaluru: Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested former corporator Zakir in connection with the August 11 violence case.
On the night of August 11, DJ Halli and KJ Halli police stations and the house of Pulakeshi Nagar MLA Akhand Srinivasa Murthy were torched for a Facebook post insulting Prophet Mohammed alleged posted by Murthy’s nephew.
Police have arrested more than 200 people in connection with the violence.
Former mayor Sampath Raj, who was absconding was also arrested as the police were preparing a charge sheet against him.
Zakir’s role in the violence is presently being interrogated.
