Renowned theater personality and writer Udayavara Madhava Acharya passes away

Udupi: Noted playwright, writer and lecturer Udayavara Madhava Acharya (80) passed away at Manipal Hospital on December 7.
Madhava Acharya was born on February 25, 1941. His father late D Lakshminarayana Acharya was a Sanskrit lecturer in Tamil Nadu.
After finishing school at Kalyanpura, he completed his postgraduation in economics.
He worked as an economics lecturer initially at Kundapura’s Bhandarkar’s College and later, for three decades, at Poornaprajna College.
Along with his lectureship, he contributed immensely to Kannada literature with his literary works such as ‘Bagida Mara,’ ‘Bhagdoddammana Kathe,’ Rangasthalada Kanavarikegalu,’ ‘Krishnana Solu,’ ‘Gode,’ ‘Gandhari’ and ‘Radhe Amba Gathe.’
For his works, he was the recipient of awards including the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award and Rangavi Sharada Birudu award.
Madhava Acharya is survived by his wife, three daughters and a son.
