Twitter has released the list of the most tweeted about people worldwide in 2020. US President Donald Trump was the most tweeted about person, followed by US President-elect Joe Biden.
The top 10 also included NBA legend Kobe Bryant, who passed away in January this year. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the seventh-most tweeted about person in 2020.
K-pop superstar BTS ranked as the sixth most tweeted about people globally. Twitter added that a tweet of BTS member Jungkook covering a song by US musician Lauv in May was the second most retweeted tweet worldwide this year at over 1.6 million times
According to the blog post, it came as no surprise that the most popular hashtag used by most people this year was none other than #COVID19. Meanwhile, the second most-Tweeted hashtag of the year was #BlackLivesMatter due to the killings of George Floyd that sparked protests against police brutality not just in the US but across the world as well.
