Nagraj Kharvi sets new record, swimming in Padmasana posture

Mangaluru: Nagaraj Kharvi, a teacher at Kalmanja Government Higher Primary School, has successfully established a record in the India Book of Records for swimming 1 kilometre in the Arabian Sea at the Thannirbavi beach here in the Padmasana posture with his legs tied in chains on December 18.
He covered the 1 km distance in 25minutes 16seconds 63 microseconds.
Kharvi performed the feat even though the morning winds were strongly blowing from the north. Kharvi swam across the south and reached the target.
Trainer, B Krishna Naik has applauded Kharvi for his achievement.
Speaking to reporters later Kharvi said that he learnt yoga at Sri Dharmastala Shantivana, and later started practising swimming in the Padmasana posture.
Kharvi thanked the trainers, organisers, police, friends and family for their support.
