Guidelines issued for reopening of schools in K’taka

Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Saturday, December 19 directed the education department to reopen schools for 10th and 12th standard students in the month of January. Primary and Secondary School Education Minister S Suresh Kumar has issued a set of guidelines for reopening of schools in the state.
Speaking to the reporters after the meeting, Suresh Kumar said, ” Although Covid-19 test is not mandatory, students who wish to stay in hostels must undergo Covid-19 test. It is not compulsory for students to attend school, they can also opt for online classes. Those who wish to attend school or Vidyagama must get an approval letter from the parents.”
“For students of Class 6- 9, Vidyagama will start from January 1 and for Class 11 students, Vidyagama will begin from January 14. Health and various departments have given approval for re-opening of classes for students of SSLC and 2nd PUC. It has been directed that there must be only 15 students in a class and weekly thrice Vidyagama will be conducted,” he added
He further said, “Vidyagama is not a patent of Public Education Department. Hence, Private schools may also conduct Vidyagama”
