Zoom to launch its own email service by next year: Report

Zoom is reportedly planning to develop and release its own email service and calendar application. According to reports, Zoom “might offer a very early version” of the email product to some customers next year.

The videoconferencing platform’s stock price has risen more than 500% owing to the surge in remote work and learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to The Verge, Zoom’s major competitors are videoconferencing platforms bundled as part of comprehensive enterprise app suites. The two big players are Microsoft with its Office 365 platform and Google with its competing Workspace bundle.

As both of those platforms offer calendar, email, and videoconferencing products,  Zoom would look to email and calendar to try to round out its offerings and make Zoom less of single-purpose platform
