Udupi: It will be one year (December 29) since the death of Pejawar matha’s former chief seer Sri Vishwateertha Swamiji.
The Swamiji was unwell since December 20, 2019, and died 9 days later in a hospital here.
On the same day of his death, his mortal remains were buried in the premises of the Purna Prajna Vidyapeeth in Bengaluru.
As per traditions, his first ‘punyaradhane’ was held in the premises of the Vidyapeeth with the opening of the Shilamaya Vrindavan on December 17.
On December 24, ‘Mritika Vrindavana’ was also opened in another part of Bengaluru.
On November 9, 2019, the Swamiji had attended a high-level government meeting in Delhi following Supreme Court’s verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi issue.
He was made one of the trustees of the newly established Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust. After his death, his successor Shri Vishva Prasanna Teertha Swamiji has taken over the trustee position and is participating in promotional activities related to the construction of the temple.
In a meet at the Vrindavan in Bengaluru on December 24, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had said that he considers the day (December 7, 1992) when the Swamiji installed the idol of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya in his presence as the most fortunate day of his life.
The chief minister also recalled that he had taken part in the struggle to build the temple along with the Swamiji.
