Gangavati: Police have arrested the main culprit in the abduction of local municipal councillor Manohar Swamy Mudanoor on December 28.

The arrested has been identified as Ravi Lingaraj.

Mudanoor, a Congress member of the Gangavati Municipal Council, was abducted before the elections to the post of president and vice president of the Council.

The abductors had taken him to Haliyal in Karwar district from where he escaped and lodged a complaint at the local police station.

After Mudanoor’s escape, Ravi Lingaraj fled.

On Monday, the police learnt the Lingaraj has been brought to Gangavati on another case against him. A team led by Inspector Venkataswamy arrested him and presented him in court where he was ordered to be remanded to judicial custody.
