Dakshina Kannada beaches closed to visitors for 2 days

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district administration has banned the entry of visitors to beaches in the district for two days i.e. from 12 pm on December 31 to 12 pm on January 2 as a measure to avoid large gatherings on occasion of the New Year.
The move comes amid reports that few UK returnees have tested positive for the new strain of Covid-19 virus.
As a precautionary measure to check the spread of the virus, entry to Ullal, Someshwara, Mogaveerapattana, Panambur, Thannirbavi, Sasihitlu, Suratkal beaches has been prohibited for all visitors barring traditional fisherman.
Only traditional fishermen will be allowed to enter the sea shore, said DC Dr Rajendra K V.
