New York: New York’s Times Square, which usually attracts lakhs of people for New Year’s celebrations, was empty on Thursday night because of the coronavirus restrictions.
Pictures of the empty square with police barricades went viral. Only a small number of invited guests, including some front line workers, gathered to witness the dropping of the New Year’s Eve ball in Times Square.
As new daily case tallies continue to rise across the United States, bars and restaurants and other gathering places in New York City are closed or have sharply limited capacity.
