Kollur: The Sri Mookambika temple here organised a mass marriage ceremony under State government-sponsored ‘Saptapadi’ scheme on January 6.
Four couples were married in the ceremony undertaken with adherence to all COVID-19 guidelines.
As per the scheme, the bridegroom was given a dhoti, a gold mangal sutra and Rs 5,000 while the bride was given a saree and Rs 10,000.
Byndoor MLA Sukumar Shetty was present during the ceremony and said that such simple marriage ceremonies are preferable and better as opposed to lavish weddings where lakhs are spent.
It is a sacred fate for those getting married here (Mookambika temple). The goddess must have blessed those who got the opportunity to start their conjugal life from here,” he added.
