Classes of degree and diploma courses to begin after Sankranthi says DyCM

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan said that the first and second year offline classes of the graduate, postgraduate and diploma classes will be started after the Makar Sankranthi festival.

Narayan held a video conference with the chancellors of universities in the State along with officials from various departments, including higher education, on January 8 and said that reopening dates will be announced soon.

“Already offline classes for final year students’ is being conducted successfully. In the wake of it, classes for all students in the first and second year will be started. All precautionary measures as per University Grants Commission and COVID-19 guidelines will be adhered to,” he added.

Also discussed in the conference was the issue of beginning the 2021-22 academic year. On this Narayan said that as the PUC-II exams will be conducted in May 2021, a schedule will be formulated by the Higher Education Department soon considering the examination.

All the university’s chancellors suggested in the meeting that offline examination is better than online examination.
