Bengaluru: KPCC President DK Shivakumar said that the Congress party would not interfere in the election of the Indian Youth Congress president and they want the election to be transparent so that a good leader for organising the party is elected.
Speaking to reporters, he said, “We have stopped student organization elections. Thus the Youth Congress election is being conducted. Elections should be transparent and free. As party president, I will not stand on behalf of or against anyone. I appeal to the voters to elect someone who is dedicated and has time for the party and is willing to work hard for the organization.”
“Mithun Rai already has too many responsibilities in Mangaluru. He had also contested the Lok Sabha elections. I advised him to withdraw from the presidential elections of the Youth Congress as there were others more enthusiastic to contest the election. Mithun is very close to me so I advised him that it would look like one is taking advantage of my name,” Shivakumar added.
