Mangaluru City Corp to develop 6 parks and 3 crematoriums

Mangaluru: In order to provide more clean air and recreation places for the public, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will develop six parks within its limits.

The government had sanctioned Rs 23.45 crore under the 15th State Finance Commission after which the MCC finalized its plans.

Around Rs 1,56,30,000 of the sanctioned amount will be spent on developing the six parks.

The parks selected for redevelopment are Bangrakuloor ward park, park near Bhagavati Temple in Kambla ward, Mangalanagara park and Jeppu park in Mangaladevi ward, park in Padavu West ward, park at Kadri North and a park near Mayor Bungalow in Mannagudda ward.

The development works of these parks will include play area for children, slides and walking track.

According to officials, a detailed project report for the development of the parks will be prepared soon. The report will also include details of maintenance of the parks along with development.

Along with the parks the MCC also plans to develop three crematoriums.

The crematoriums at Nandigudde in Attavar ward will be redeveloped at an estimated cost of Rs 36.33 lakhs, and those at Bejai ward and Surathkal will be developed at at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakhs and Rs 1 lakh respectively.
