Bengaluru: A team of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Bengaluru Police has arrested, Aditya Alva  in Chennai on Monday, January 11 night, in connection with the Sandalwood drug case.

Aditya Alva is the son of former minister Jeevraj Alva and brother-in-law of Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi. As per police, he is the sixth accused named in the FIR registered at Cottonpet police station in the Sandalwood Drug Case.

Central Crime Branch sleuths had registered the case against Aditya, son of former Minister Jeevaraj Alva on September 4, 2020 under the Narcotic Substances and Psychotropic Act, 1985.

Aditya Alva has been absconding since September 4 last year and was reported to have left Karnataka.

He has also moved court for quashing of FIR against his name. However, the court has not provided him any relief so far. The crime branch has issued a look out circular against his name and has formed teams to arrest him.

Sources said Aditya Alva knew Ragini and another accused Viren Khanna.

Viren and Ragini have been arrested while Aditya Alva was at large.

More than 15 people have been arrested in the Sandalwood Drug Case so far including Kannada film actresses Ragini Dwivedi, Sanjjanaa Galrani, rave party organiser Viren Khanna, realtor Rahul Thonse, and a few Nigerians.

Police launched a crackdown on the drug traffickers, peddlers and consumers after the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested three people from Bengaluru two months ago with drug haul. According to sources, the trio told the NCB sleuths that they were supplying drugs to Kannada film actors and singers.
