App developed for GP president and vice president reservation

Udupi: The State’s Election Commission is set to introduce technology in the reservation of the post of president and vice president of gram panchayats.

The Koppal district-based National Informatics Centre has developed an app for the said purpose by the name GPPVP app. The Commission has instructed all district administrations to adopt the app.

NIC officials and their team in each district will be providing technical assistance. The app will instruct reservation for the posts based on the reservation roster made in 1993.

Wherever it is not technically feasible to use the app, the election to the posts will be done through a lottery.

As the entire process of election for the posts will be computerised there will be no scope to doubt the process.

Once the reservation roster is scheduled it will be notified in the official gazette of the State along with the names of the winners.

Training of staff for this purpose is being carried out across the State.

“The State Election Commission has instructed to make reservation for the posts of gram panchayat president and vice president. We will be making the reservations in the taluk centres using the app. It is much easier to do it using the app rather than manually.” said G Jagadeesha, Udupi district Deputy Commissioner.
