Physicist Rohini Godbole from B’luru awarded French Order of Merit

Bengaluru: Indian physicist and Padma Shri awardee, Professor Rohini Godbole from Bengaluru’s Indian Institute of Science (IISc), has been conferred with one of France’s highest distinctions, Ordre National du Merite (National Order of Merit).
“She has been recognised for her contributions in collaborations between France and India and commitment to promoting enrolment of women in science,” IISc said.
As reported by HT, Born in Pune in 1952, Godbole completed her BSc (Physics) from the University of Pune, securing the first rank. She went on to complete her MSc from the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay, in 1974. Having secured the first rank again, she was the recipient of the institute’s silver medal. Godbole completed her PhD from the Stony Brook University, New York, USA.
