Bengaluru: Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), the leading milk supplier in Karnataka, forayed into bread segment and has now launched ‘Nandini Goodlife Bread’.
The Nandini Goodlife Bread by KMF will be introduced across Bengaluru on pilot basis for a month. Currently four varieties of bread will be introduced namely, milk bread, sandwich bread, whole wheat bread and multigrain bread in a price range of Rs.20 to Rs.30.
This move comes after learning a management lesson during the lockdown against Covid-19 as the private bakers relied on Nandini milk booths run by KMF to sell breads.
Balchandra L Jarakiholi, chairperson of KMF informed that they aim to sell around 2.5lakh pounds of bread during the pilot and that around 5000 pounds of bread have already been released to market.
According to KMF officials, at present the production of bread has been outsourced to a private company due to the lack of required infrastructure.
B C Sateesh, CEO and Managing Director of KMF stated that the actual strength of the KMF bread is pure Nandini milk, ghee and butter.
The shelf life of Nandini Goodlife Bread is 4 to 5 days. The materials including flour, dry fruits are sourced from APMC and Hopcoms.
KMF plans to roll out premium chocolates by March-April coinciding with Ugadi festival. They plan to manufacture 27 varieties of premium chocolates, using the skimmed milk powder and cocoa butter sourced from farmers.
