Gadag: Villagers concerned after more than 200 report ill

Gadag: Around 200 people have fallen sick at Arahunasi village in Ron taluk of Gadag district in the last five days. This has raised concerns among the villagers.

Most of the ill have reported to be suffering from fever, cough, throat infection, loss of appetite and other flu-like symptoms.

Concerned villagers have decided to vacate the village if the situation worsens in the next few days.

Since the last two days, a medical team of District Vigilance Officer Dr Jagadish Nuchchin, District Epidemiologist Dr Praveen Nidagundi and Dr Raghu Hosur are camping in the village.

Samples of more than 65 villagers, including 25 showing H1NI symptoms have been collected and sent for testing.

The team has already conducted health check-ups of people in more than 300 households.

The people who have fallen ill are undergoing treatment at private hospitals and clinics in Mallapur, Savadi and Ron. Some have even been admitted to KIMS, Hubballi.

Many villagers have already left the village from fear of contracting the unknown illness.
