Excise officials arrest Bantwal resident, confiscate Goa-origin liquor, vehicles valuing Rs 22 lac

Bantwal: Excise department officials arrested a man who was found to be illegally transporting liquour in his Toyota Etios car here on Saturday, January 16.

Acting on credible information, the officials led by excise deputy commissioner Shailaja Kote intercepted the vehicle at Modankap in the taluk and seized 50.400 litres Goa origin liquor that was being transported illegally and arrested Sandeep Lobo (35), resident of Vian Thota Mane, Modankap.

Later the officials also raided his welding shop and confiscated Goa-origin liquor (107.600 litres) and beer (34 litres) stored there.

The value of the seized liquor and confiscated vehicles — Toyota Etios car, an Ashoka Leyland tempo is estimated at around Rs 22 lakh.

A case has been registered in this regard
