Brahmavar: Children engaging in business and found begging, rescued

Brahmavar: The District Child Protection unit in association with the Udupi district police, Saligrama town panchayat and District Nagarika Seva Samiti, in a joint operation rescued children engaging in business and begging at the annual fair of Saligrama.

It was revealed that the children engaged in selling balloons along with the families from Rajasthan.

Eight girls and four boys were rescued. The team even convinced their parents not to employ the children in trade or business and educate them instead.

Moreover, 16 children found begging were stopped and sent back to their parents.

The rescue team consisted of District child protection officer Sadananda Nayak, legal surveillance officer Prabhakar Achar, Kota police sub-inspector Santosh BP, assistant sub-inspector Mukta, town panchayat Saligrama chief officer Arun Kumar, officer of the child protection unit Kapil, social workers Yogeesh, Suraksha and Sandesh, as well as Nityananda Vollakadu and Taranath Mesta of the district Nagarika Seva Samiti were involved with the operation.
