Hubballi: The State’s Sugarcane Growers Association president Kuruburu Shantakumar said that an alternative parade of tractors and bikes will be held in Bengaluru on January 26 to support the farmers’ protests in Delhi.
Speaking at a news conference on Monday, he said that the central government is neglecting the farmers, who have been protesting the government’s anti-farmer policies since the past two months.
He added that a parade of tractors, jeeps and motorbikes will be held on Republic Day, in association with farmers, labourers and other organizations in the State, in support of the farmers protest. More than fifteen thousand people will be participating.
“The parade will be held on all highways connecting Bengaluru. Later, a meeting would be held at Freedom Park around 1 pm. A delegation from the State would go to Delhi to participate in the alternative parade to be held there by protesting farmers on January 26,” he said.
“The parade will be held peacefully. Meetings would be held in all districts to extend the struggle to the villages in the coming days,” he added.
