‘Act of revenge’: Attack on constable Ganesh Kamath was to avenge M’luru police firing

Mangaluru: City Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar on Tuesday said that a team called the Maya gang attacked head constable Ganesh Kamath to avenge the Mangaluru riots incident.
Ganesh Kamath, who was on duty near New Chithra junction was attacked with a sword by an unidentified assailant in broad daylight here on December 16 last year.
So far the police have arrested Anish Asraf (22), Abdul Khader Fahad (23), both residents of Kudroli, Sheik Mohammed Haris (32), resident of Bajape, Muhammed Kahyis (24), resident of Kudroli, Muhammed Nawaz (30), a resident of Bantwal and Rahil (18) a resident Kudroli.
Nawaz is a relative of Nausheen, who died in police firing on December 19 last year in the violence that erupted during the anti-CAA protests. The attack on the policeman is an act of revenge.
