Indian-American Vinay Reddy is leading the speechwriting team of the new US President Joe Biden and also served as chief speechwriter when Biden was VP in Barack Obama’s second term.
While Reddy was born in the US, his family hails from Telangana’s Pothireddypet village. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Miami University and majored in political science and philosophy.
He first worked as a speechwriter for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Then he worked as Biden’s speechwriter and as a translator for Kamala Harris in recent polls.
According to Zee News, People in the village recall their association with Vinay Reddy`s father Narayana Reddy, who migrated to the US in 1970.
Narayana Reddy and his wife Vijaya Reddy still visit the village and meet relatives and friends. They had last visited the village in February 2020.
Vinay Reddy’s grandfather Thirupathi Reddy had served as the village sarpanch (head) for several years. Thatikonda Pullachari, who is now serving as the village sarpanch, said he worked with Thirupathi Reddy in the 1980s.
