Mangaluru: Man defrauded of Rs. 1.35 lakh by a stranger on Facebook

Mangaluru: Cyber police has charged a man of defrauding of Rs. 1.35 lakh after promising to send gold and diamond as gift.
Reynolds Frieson Christopher befriended the accused on January 3 via facebook. They started out chatted on Facebook, following which the accused said that he will be gifting Reynolds gold and diamond worth Rs 35 lakh.
On January 18, Reynolds received a call from 8754231656 where a woman claimed to be a customs officer. She informed that the airport had received a parcel and the delivery charge of the same would be Rs. 30,000 and asked him to transfer the amount.
Later on January 20, the same woman called Reynolds again asking him to transfer Rs. 1.5 lakh. Similarly, she has so far asked Rs. 1.35 lakh to be transferred to various bank accounts.
A complaint has been lodged at the local police station alleging the woman of defrauding Reynolds.
