Sword attack on Mangaluru cop: Dept will intensify the probe into the case, says Compol

Mangaluru: Announcing the arrest of three more men who had allegedly attacked a police officer in broad daylight in the city last month, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner N Shashikumar said that the department will intensify the probe

“The three arrested formed a group called ‘Kharkhana gang” and they have revealed important information regarding the case. The probe into the case will be intensified. We have not yet decided regarding CBI or higher level investigation in the case. The attack was carried out by both Maya gang and Kharkhana gang members,” he said

The arrestees have been identified as Ibrahim Shakeer (19), Akbar (30) and Mohammed Haneef (32)

The head constable was attacked with a sword by an unknown assailant near New Chithra junction on December 16, 2020 after which a case of attempt to murder was registered and the matter investigated by the police.
