Mangaluru: Deputy chief minister Laxman Savadi on Saturday said that the Maharashtra government was raking the Belagavi issue to divert the attention of the people of Maharashtra from other core issues.
Speaking to reporters here he likened the alliance government in Maharashtra as a ‘house with three doors’.
“Belagavi is an integral part of Karnataka. They (Maha govt) are aware that Belagavi is the second capital of Karnataka and legislature sessions are held at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha located there, yet they are giving provocative statements,” he said.
Taking a jibe at Raut’s remarks that Marathi-speaking people are in majority in Belagavi, Karwar and Nippani area and hence it should be included in Maharashtra, Savadi said since many people from coastal Karnataka are residing in Mumbai it should be included in Karnataka.
