Darshan lambasts Telugu movie industry for not permitting ‘Roberrt’s release

Sandalwood actor Darshan and producer Umapathy have lodged a complaint with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce on Friday over non-availability of theatres and dates for the Telugu version of their upcoming movie ‘Roberrt.’
The Kannada and Telugu version of the movie was set to release on March 11.
“Movies from there (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana) are being dubbed in Kannada and released on a large scale in Karnataka. However, our Kannada movies are not being allowed to release there. The Chamber must immediately intervene and resolve the issue,” Darshan appealed.
Speaking at a meeting of Chamber of Commerce, Darshan said, “We make opportunities for the release of movies from any language. But others do not allow us. First of all, we need to cultivate a sense of pride in our language. We do not pride our language as those who speak Tamil or Telugu do.”
Talking about the impending release of his movie, Darshan said, “They said that there are four other movies on March 11. If we release a movie with your hero then our heroes will suffer. When the movies of their heroes are released here, we too suffer. Non-Kannada movie industries have started to fear the exploitation of their markets. I have no problem, I have already completed 50 movies. But this will affect the newcomers.”
