No-confidence motion presented in K’taka Leg Co against chairman Pratap Shetty

Bengaluru: BJP MLC Ayanur Manjunath moved a no-confidence motion against the chairman of the Vidhan Parishad Pratap Chandra Shetty in its session on Tuesday afternoon after the mandatory passing of the 14-day period since the introduction of the motion.
As per rules, the chairman asked 10 other members of the Council to stand and second the motion for it to be passed for debate in the house.
Immediately 10 members from both the BJP and JD(S) stood up in support of the motion. Chairman Shetty then approved the motion for debate and said that a date for the same will be announced later.
The chairman has to decide the debate date within five days of approval of a no-confidence motion. The present session of the house will be till February 5.
Shetty could set a date within the end of this session or could adjourn it until the next session.
