New Delhi: Shortly after Delhi police on Thursday filed an FIR against Greta Thunberg over her recent tweets on farmers’ protests in India, the Swedish environmental activist in a tweet reiterated her solidarity with protesting farmers.

“I still #StandWithFarmers and support their peaceful protest. No amount of hate, threats or violations of human rights will ever change that. #FarmersProtest,” Greta said in her latest tweet.

Earlier on Thursday, Greta Thunberg took to Twitter to extend support to the ongoing farmers’ agitation in India.

In the first tweet on Tuesday night, Greta Thunberg wrote “We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India” while also sharing a CNN article on the ongoing farmers’ protest in India and the internet suspension around the Delhi borders.

In a follow-up tweet, Greta Thunberg wrote, “Here’s an updated toolkit by people on the ground in India if you want to help. (They removed their previous document as it was outdated.) #StandWithFarmers #FarmersProtest” and shared a document on details about the agitation.

Greta’s tweet came hours after pop star Rihanna in a post said, “why aren’t we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest.” while seeking to draw international attention to the farmers’ protest and internet shutdowns in Delhi

Delhi Police’s action against the teen climate activist comes a day after the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a statement asking celebrities to refrain from sensationalising the issue for the sake of popular hashtags.
