Agumbe: Forest Dept fines those feeding wild animals and discarding food packets on ghat roads

Udupi: The wild animal preservation section of the Forest Department took actions against the ones who feed food to wild animals and discard packets and boxes of food on Agumbe Ghat.
On a stretch of 10kms from Someshwara to Agumbe, fines were collected from drivers for throwing food packets on the ghat. Around 40 personnel from the wild animal department of Hebri, Karkala, Amasebailu and Siddapura carried this operation on February 6.
Fines were fixed, Rs 100 for those who throw garbage and plastic on the roads of the ghat, Rs 200 for those who enter forest without prior permission, ones who take bath in waterfalls on the roadside, ones washing clothes on the roadside, ones cooking and staying the national park for an extended time without strong reason and Rs. 50 for feeding wild animals.
Talking about the operation, Anil Kumar, Zonal Forest Officer in Hebri, informed that this operation is being conducted every Saturdays and Sundays.
Along with various personnels of all four zones, Bhagavasdas Kudthalkar, assistant forest conservator of Siddapur, Anil Kumar, zonal forest officer of Hebri zone, Sandesh Kumar, zonal forest officer of Amasebailu, participated in the operation.
