Udupi: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced the circulation of new Rs 20 coin.

In 2019, the RBI had introduced new Rs 2, 5 and 10 coins. The bank had announced new Re 1 coins but they are yet to be rolled out.

The new Rs 20 coins have brass in the centre and nickel around it.

Udupi district has six currency chests and Dakshina Kannada has eleven, both have received the newly indented coins from the RBI.

Speaking on the issue of non-acceptance of Rs 10 coins, Lead Bank Managers of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district Praveen and Rudresh stated that although Rs 10 coins have been in circulation for several years, some are hesitant to accept them. It’s not okay. The coins are legal tender legal and should be more common in public circulation.
