Chamarajanagar: Minister Suresh Kumar said that the government is not going to fill its coffers by increasing the cost of living for the poor.

“The government’s purpose is to reduce the burden on the poor by reducing prices of petrol, diesel and gas and not raise them to fill its coffers by raising prices,” he said.

Speaking to reporters here, he said no one speaks when petrol, diesel and cooking gas prices go down but it is normal to speak when they raise. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan too has said that the price would come down.

Commenting on Umesh Katti’s statement on the cancellation of BPL cards for those possessing television, fridge and vehicles, he said that it must be known what was the basis of the statement.

“I will speak with Umesh Katti. It’s common to have television sets in one’s home. Even the child from the poorest family watches DD Chandana channel to attend classes and learn,” Kumar said.
