Potato chips are the top-selling salty snack and to call it a fried food would be an insult. Despite being the most popular eatable, they are not good for you.

In fact, potato chips are number one on the list of food that most likely makes you gain weight.

How to tell if you are indulging in this salty, fatty, fried food on a regular basis?

If you constantly feel bloated and puffy, chances are that you are eating too many potato chips. Due to water retention from excess salt, the main sign of eating too many chips is feeling puffy and swollen.

High-calorie chips also cause weight gain, leading to feeling puffy and bloated.

Manufacturers make sure the chips are hard to resist, making them saltier- the more you eat, the more you want.

Alexis Parcells, a board-certified plastic surgeon says that one should be limiting the potato chips consumption to not more than the palm of our hand.

Dangers of eating too many potato chips

High blood pressure is one. Potato chip consumption in the long term can cause high blood pressure.

Other side-effects are weight gain, trouble sleeping, dry skin, kidney problems, headaches, and inflammation.

Potatoes are decently healthy food, on the other hand, potato chips are unhealthy as they are low in nutritional value, high in sodium, and often contain pro-inflammatory ingredients – such as highly processed vegetable oils, which may lead to the development of health dysfunction and disease.
