Kota: Locals on Tuesday protested at the Sasthan toll plaza, outraged by the cancellation of exemption given to them.

As preparations were being made to collect toll from locals, hundreds of them arrived at the tollgate on their vehicles and asked the toll employees not to collect toll from them until a decision is made at the meeting, as promised by local elected representatives and officials.

However, when the employees at the toll plaza did not respond to it, the protestors blockaded the plaza’s two gates reserved for locals and started shouting slogans.

Brahmavara tehsildar Kiran Gorayya came to the toll plaza and requested the protestors to stop the blockade but the protestors stated that they will continue until the toll collection decision was postponed.

The protest, which started at 9 am, continued till noon. The toll employees, under threat from the protestors, did not collect any toll from the locals.

Eventually, the protesters convened a meeting and decided to continue to not pay the toll and convene another meeting on Wednesday for further plan of action.

There were a few clashes between the protestors and the police when the police tried to remove the sitting protesters from the site. Later the police moved away and controlled everything peacefully.
