Gadag: Man given death penalty for murdering his toddler

Gadag: A court here on Friday, February 19 awarded death penalty to a man for murdering his one-and-half-year old baby in April 2015
Judge Rajshekhar V Patil of Gadag District court found Prashant Gowda Patil of Hullur village, Rona Taluk guilty under relevant sections of IPC and awarded him death penalty
In 2013, Prashant Gowda married a woman of a different religion and after several months, began assaulting her.
The woman had sought help from the counseling center and also filed a case against him. Soon after they were blessed with a baby girl. Prashant also promised to look after his wife and baby.
The couple was then living in a rented house near Rona Siddarooda Matt. However, Prashant once again began torturing his wife to take back the case and his wife decided to take the matter to the court.
Angered by this, on April 6, 2015, he kidnapped his one-and-a-half-year-old baby and took her to Kalakaleshwara hills in Gajendragad. He then killed the baby and tried to burn the body.
A case was registered at Rona Police station
