Man from Chikkaballapur dies nine days after receiving Covishield jab

Chikkaballapur: A man hailing from Chikkaballapur died nine days after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine on February 19.
According to the Covid bulletin, the deceased had first developed symptoms a day after he received the Covishield jab, on the afternoon of February 11.
Following which he was shifted to Aster CMI Hospital and later to Jayadeva Hospital.
According to the bulletin, the man was discharged from the hospital on February 18 after treatment and subsequent recovery.
However, he developed chest pain again on Friday, February 19 afternoon and while being shifted to hospital, he died.
Dr. Rajani Nageshrao, Deputy Director, Immunisation, Department of Health and Family Welfare informed that the case will be investigated by the Chikkaballapur district AEFI Committee on February 22.
Director of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Dr. C N Manjunath asserted that they have to look at the case sheets in order to understand the treating doctor’s provisional diagnosis. He further claimed that the vaccine given nine days ago couldn’t have given him a heart attack.
