Beauty of Tulunadu – Aati Kalenja

Tulu Nadu is known for its rich traditions. Aati Kalenja is one such ancient traditional folk art form practiced by the people Tulunadu.

People belonging to Nalike community visit local houses in colorful attire masquerading as Kalenja and collect the offerings made by the family, which usually happens to be in the form of rice, coconuts, turmeric, charcoal, etc, and leave for the next house.

It is believed that Aati Kalenja brings positive energy which would ward off evil spirits and diseases.
