11 dalits convert to Buddhism

Puttur: Eleven dalits from here converted to Buddhism on Thursday.
It has been reported that, a total 11 members who were belonging to the Dalit community embraced Buddhism in the presence of Dalit Sangharsha Samiti Puttur taluk organizing convener Ananda Mithabail and Dakshina Kannada district Bouddha Mahasabha leader Sugathapala Bhantheji.
The conversion ceremony was held during a house warming ceremony of a person in the village here.
Mahasabha leader performed Buddha Puja and offered dharmopadesha to 11 Dalits as per Buddhist scriptures.
