Jabalpur: At least 11 labourers were killed and six others injured when a mini truck overturned near Chargavan area here early today, a police official said.

The accident took place at around 1 am when the 17 labourers were travelling in the truck of the forest department to Chargavan for plucking tendu leaves, Chargavan police station in-charge Rajendra Bagri said.

Prima facie it appears that the mishap took place as the driver lost control over the vehicle following which it overturned, he said.

The injured labourers were admitted in Jabalpur Medical College for treatment, he said.

Senior police and forest officials rushed to the spot soon after the mishap.

The identities of the deceased persons were yet to be established, police added.
