12-year-old elephant gives birth to a male calf in Bannerghatta Biological Park

Bengaluru: Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) on Saturday, August 1 welcomed a new member after a 12-year-old elephant, Roopa, at gave birth to a male calf.
Executive Director, BBP, said, “Both the mother and calf are healthy and are doing well.”
“It was the second calf delivered by Roopa, she gave birth to a female calf, Gowri in 2016 at the age of 8,” the Executive Director added.
With the addition of this calf, the present elephant population is 24 at the BBP.
