14 years after murder conviction, man becomes medic

Kalaburagi: Subhash Tukaram Patil from Bhosaga village, Afzalpur taluk convicted of murder and jailed for life has become an MBBS graduate after 14 years in jail.
Subhash was convicted of murdering excise contractor Ashok Guthedar at Bengaluru in 2002 and was serving life imprisonment and was released on Independence Day in 2016 for good behaviour.
Subhash was studying MBBS in Bengaluru in 2002 when he started an affair with Ashok’s wife Padmavati. Both planned to murder Ashok and later Subhash gunned down Ashok.
Subhas and Padmavati were given life imprisonment and both were released on August 16, 2016.
After being released from prison, Subhash obtained permission from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and finished his MBBS in February 2019 from Mahadevappa Rampur Medical College, Gulbarga.
While in prison Subhash had obtained an MA (Journalism) degree from Karnataka State Open University.
