14200 cases filed against auto and cab drivers in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The city’s traffic police on Thursday moved around in plain clothes to penalise auto and cab drivers who refused to go on hire, harassed the passengers and charged extra fares and other offences.
The east and north division of traffic police have filed more than 14200 cases. More than 2000 auto drivers and cab 1000 cab drivers were filed for not wearing uniform and refusing to ply their vehicles. Rest of them were filed for violations such as using mobile phones while driving, not having driving licence, charging extra money and harassing the passengers.
Total of 14200 were filed within two hours of conducting the special drive on Thursday morning.
