147 new Covid-19 cases in DK; K’taka reports 1925 cases

Mangaluru/Bengaluru: Bengaluru and Dakshina Kannada accounted for 1235 and 147 new coronavirus cases respectively as the tally of those infected surged to 23,474 in the state.

In the last 24 hours, 1925 new cases, 603 discharges and 37 deaths have been reported, the health department said in its bulletin.

Out of the total 23,474 positive cases, 9,847 patients have recovered while 13,251 cases are active. The death toll in the state stands at 372. As many as 243 patients are admitted in the ICU.

Other districts that saw huge cases being reported today included Ballari – 90, Vijaypura – 51, Kalaburagi -49, Dharwad & Udupi – 45 cases each.

According to the state health bulletin, Bengaluru accounts for 8,167 cases of the 13,251 active cases in Karnataka followed by Dakshina Kannada with 663 cases and Ballari with 657 cases.

In Dakshina Kannada, random testing undertaken by district administration revealed as many as 48 cases in Ullal area. The other case includes 40 with ILI symptoms, 35 primary contacts, 2 cases of SARI, 8 with international travel history and 7 interstate/intrastate travellers, 2 arrivals by ship from Malaysia, and four samples were collected pre-surgery.
